Private H. Lawson and his brother Private James Lawson have had a somewhat similar military career, and have both been killed in action. Both were born at Morton, were 23 yeas of age, and had been enlisted four months before being sent abroad. One was wounded and the other invalided home two months later. Three months elapsed before they returned to the front, where they were killed in action two months later. Private H. Lawson was the first Morton soldier to be killed, (16th June 1915), he enlisted in August 1914. His brother enlisted in November, 1915. When in civil life they both worked in Messrs Marshall’s boilershop. The parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Lawson, of  Doncaster Place, Morton
