Private 18104 John Carey
Private John Carey, born 1893, 1st son of Arnold Carey, Service Reservist, of Milk Street, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, by his wife Mary Ann Cottle, previously a Silk Weaver of Milk Street, Malmesbury, at 8 Chapel Street, Highworth, Swindon, Wiltshire.
John became a Frame Builder's Assistant in No. 21a Shop, at the Great Western Railway works at Swindon. He signed up for service and joined the Wiltshire Regiment where he served in the 1st Battalion. During the Battle of Bellewaarde on the 16th June 1915 he was severely wounded. He died of his wounds 27th June 1915 and is buried at Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Grave Reference: XIII. B. 2. He was un-married.
