Private Thomas McAteer, of the Liverpool Scottish, Machine Gun Section, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McAteer of 24, Walton Village, Liverpool, was killed in action on June 16 at Hooge. He was a good all-round athlete, and was an old player of the Dominion F.C., previously playing for St Francis de Sales, Walton. Before the war broke out he was employed in a Liverpool insurance company’s office. He joined the battalion last November, and went to France in February. He was 23 years of age.
